Careers

Paid to think. Trusted to deliver.

Bytewise is a remote-first Data & AI Technology consultancy where senior practitioners still do the work, freedom and accountability are the same thing, and your career compounds.

Yes, we pay competitively. Yes, we are remote-first. Yes, you'll work with senior, generous colleagues. Yes, the platforms you want to work on are at the center of what we do.

But the reasons that actually matter are the ones below.

01

You will be paid to think, not just to ship

Most consultancies sell hours. Most product companies sell features. Bytewise sells judgment. You will be asked, regularly, what you actually believe — about a platform choice, a data model, a governance approach, an AI use case. The answer will matter.

02

The senior people do the work

No leveraged pyramid. Senior practitioners are in code reviews, client workshops, and the working sessions when the hard problems are being solved. If you join as a senior engineer, you will not be staffed onto problems beneath your level.

03

Remote-first, by conviction

Not a pandemic accommodation. The best practitioner for the work is rarely in the same city as the work. Synchronous time is sacred and reserved for the conversations that genuinely need it.

04

Freedom and accountability are the same thing

You manage your calendar, your location, and your working pattern. You make decisions that would, at most firms, require three layers of approval. In exchange, you own the outcomes of those decisions.

05

Your career compounds here

Progression is tied to what you can actually do, not to a calendar. People who compound their judgment quickly progress quickly. The system is more honest than the alternative — and significantly more rewarding for the right people.

06

The work is varied and consequential

In a year you may touch a legacy-stack migration, a greenfield lakehouse, a regulator-grade governance program, a production ML use case, an AI strategy advisory, and a platform-selection counsel. The clients are organizations whose decisions affect millions.

What we look for

The kind of practitioner we're building Bytewise around.

·

Senior judgment

You've shipped production work at scale and you can defend the trade-offs you made.

·

Engineering craft

You hold a high bar on what you ship — and have the discipline to keep it.

·

Client-grade communication

You can sit in a steering committee and hold your own without needing a translator.

·

Platform-neutral instincts

You're loyal to outcomes, not to a single platform or methodology.

·

A bias toward writing

Decisions documented, architectures described, design discussions captured.

·

Care for the work

Pride in delivery, attention to the client team, and ownership when things go sideways.

The honest part

We are not for everyone.

Not a fit if: you want to specialize in a single platform for your entire career, want 9-to-5 with no client exposure, want to coast, or need close management direction above you. The structure is intentionally flat.

A fit if: you read those bullets and your reaction is "no, none of those — but I want everything that comes with the trade."

You will spend the years you give us doing work you are proud of, with people who are excellent and humane, on problems that matter, for clients who respect what you do — under terms that treat you as an adult, in a firm that is being built with care and for the long horizon.

Compensation & how we operate

Top-quartile total comp. No surveillance.

Cash & bonus

Top-quartile cash compensation calibrated annually, with transparent bands. Profit share linked to firm and individual performance.

Equity / ownership

Senior practitioner equity participation as the firm matures.

Healthcare & family

Every practitioner controls a learning budget — courses, certifications, conferences, books, allocated time.

Equipment & home office

We pay for the tools to do the work properly. The firm exists to serve the work.
